The wall behind everything

Wedding Backdrops & Draping in Ottawa

Every photograph of your first dance, your speeches, your cake: all of it happens against one wall. We build that wall. Full-height drapery, sequin panels, floral installations and lighting, cut to your room's exact measurements and installed the morning of.

A backdrop is not a prop. It's the room.

Most Ottawa venues hand you a rectangle: beige walls, a fire exit, a stack of speakers in the corner. Beautiful in the brochure, ordinary in person. A backdrop is how that rectangle becomes a room your guests remember walking into.

We build ours in layers: a base of pinched or pleated chiffon, then swagged overlays, then whatever the design asks for: a sequin centre panel, a floral valance, cascading blossom, crystal beading, warm fairy light woven through the folds. The layers are what stop it looking like a bedsheet on a pipe.

Measured to your venue, not to a standard size

We visit or pull the specs for your hall before we quote. Ceiling height, stage depth, sightlines from the back tables, where the DJ needs to load in, which wall the sun hits at 6pm in July. Drapery that is two feet short at the top is the single most common decor mistake we get called in to fix.

Because we own our inventory rather than sub-renting it, we can cut and rig to your dimensions instead of asking your wedding to fit an off-the-shelf kit.

Questions

Backdrops, answered

Six to twelve months for a Saturday between May and October. Those dates go first. For a winter or weekday wedding, three months is usually comfortable. If your date is sooner than that, call us anyway. We hold inventory back for short-notice bookings, and we have turned a wedding around on a week's notice before. It is not our favourite way to work, but it can be done.

Almost always. Bring us the screenshot. We will tell you honestly what we can build exactly, what we would adapt to your room's proportions, and what we would change because it will not photograph the way it does in the picture.

Yes, and the two are usually quoted together because they share rigging. Ceiling draping is the single biggest change you can make to a plain banquet hall: it lowers the perceived ceiling, hides ductwork and gives your uplighting something to glow against.

Always. Our team installs on the day and returns at the end of the night to strike. Venue access times are coordinated with your coordinator directly so nobody in your family is stacking chairs at 1am.
